Otto Ferrene earned his BA in English from Davidson College in 1986, served a short stint in the US Army as a 2nd LT in the Field Artillery, went on to earn an MFA in Video from The Savannah College of Art and Design. He cut his teeth in the entertainment business as an assistant Editor with Producers Color Service in Southfield Michigan, where he was exposed to all aspects of state of the art linear on-line editing for the automotive advertising industry. It was there that Otto was also introduced to Digital Non-Linear editing systems, Quantel Henry, Discrete Logic Flame and Avid Media Composer. Otto arrived in the Los Angeles area in 1996, working for Avid Technology. First as technical phone support / Film Team for 3 years, then as an Application Editor for another year. While at Avid Technology, Otto became a Certified Avid Instructor, ACI, allowing him to teach official Avid courseware for Avid learning partners such as Moviola. Otto then worked as an Application Editor for authorized Avid Reseller, 3 Point Digital 1999-2000. Then in 2001, Otto Landed his current position with Nickelodeon Animation Studio, where he has been a supervising Picture Editor, operating Avid’s Media Composer, to produce final picture, broadcast masters for numerous Nickelodeon programs, traditional 2D as well as 3D rendered productions. Animated Series Otto has been credited as Picture Editor: “Oswald the Octopus,” “The Fairly OddParents,” “Danny Phantom,” “The X’s,” “Kung Fu Panda, Legends of Awesomeness,” “Tuff Puppy,” and currently, “WallyKazam!” and “Harvey Beaks.” In 2013 Otto was honored for his work on the Editorial Team of the “Kung Fu Panda” television series with an Annie Award.
