Avid Editing — Level I (MC101) or equivalent experience. Experience in a film-editing environment is recommended but not required.
Moviola’s two-day Film & 24p course prepares editors and assistant editors for working with film and 24p media on Avid Media Composer, Avid Film Composer, Avid Symphony and Avid Xpress Pro.
At Moviola Digital, Avid class sizes are limited to eight to ten students, and each workstation is limited to just two students to ensure a positive learning experience.
Class time is divided between demonstrations followed by hands-on practice exercises.
Moviola’s two-day 102 course focuses on:
- Understanding the film to video (telecine) transfer process referred to as “2:3 Pulldown.”
- Film and 24p project workflows.
- Organizing editing projects and sessions.
- Avid’s AutoSync© and AutoSequence© features.
- Avid’s Script Integration feature.
- Film and reformatting effects.
- Creating Film Cut Lists, Change Lists, Pull Lists, Optical Lists, etc.
- Creating an Edit Decision List (EDL).
- Digital Cuts (mastering to tape).
- The Avid Log Exchange application.
- Duplicate Frame Detection feature and settings.
- Adjusting sync with Avid’s “Perf Slip” feature.
- Exporting Audio to a ProTools audio workstation.
- Additional topics include film and video terminology, Film Matchback, acquisition of 24p footage, 24p versus 23.976p, Film and 24p settings, modifying clip data, fixing incorrect pulldown, and Grid Display settings.
