The next series of articles offers a primer in several different and often confusing aspects of working in the world of HD.
- Understanding HD: Covers the basics- HD frame sizes and frame rates, two of the standards bodies (ATSC, ITU-R 709) that detail certain aspects of HD encoding standards and recommendations.
- HD Frame Rates and NTSC Compatibility: Information about the confusing array of available frame rates and how to avoid problems down the road by understanding the "proper" frame rates we should be using in HD for distribution in SD or HD in the U.S. and other NTSC countries.
- HD Frame Rate Confusion: Understanding the terminology used to describe different HD formats, and the confusing lack of consistency used to describe these different formats. This is a must for users of HD, either in production or post production.
- Aspect Ratio Confusion In HD: Covers the myriad of different 16x9 HD formats and the variety of "custom" aspect ratios used to create 16x9 images. In other words, this covers working with "full frame" and "squeezed" HD formats.
