One really helpful feature of FCP is the ability to enter information into a Browser column, then easily share that information with other clips. Let's say for example you enter the names of the characters in a particular shot.

Then you run across other shots that have these same characters. Instead of re-entering this information again, you can use a shortcut.
For a single clip:
1. Right-click in the field across from the clip. All information entered in that column anywhere in the project (even in other tabs) now appears in the contextual menu.

2. Choose the appropriate option. Voilà! Quick and easy!
For multiple clips:
This option makes entry for multiple clips a breeze.
1. Highlight all clips in the Name column of the Browser that should share the same entry.
2. Right-click in the appropriate column across from one of the highlighted clips and choose an option from the menu.

After this all highlighted clips will have the same entry.

A variation on this technique is one of my favorites. Sometimes you'll want to clear any set in and out points in the Browser for a group of clips.
1. Highlight all clips to reset.
2. Right-click across from one of the selected clips over the In point field.
3. Choose Clear In.

All selected clips have the in point reset. Repeat the same steps for clearing out points.
