Many of us use "favorites" inside Final Cut to store effects that we've customized so that we can re-apply the same effect again to other video or audio clips. Maybe lesser known, we can also save favorite "generators".
For example, let's say you want to create a subtitle or lower third in Final Cut using the Outline Text generator. Open the generator and add it to a sequence. Adjust the parameters of the generator by opening it from the Timeline back into the Viewer. Set Line Width, Size, color, etc including the positioning on the screen for where the subtitles should appear (make sure you use the "Center" crosshair on the Controls tab of the generator to save the generator's screen position, as the Motion tab's Center setting will not be saved with the favorite).

With the text generator in the Viewer (either with the Video or Controls tab in "front"), go to the Effects menu > Make Favorite Effect (shortcut: Option/F).

Your saved generator will be located in the Effects tab of the Browser in the Favorites bin (in this case its also been renamed after being saved).

In addition to retrieving it from here for future use, the newly saved generator is now available from the Generators pop-up menu in the Viewer, accessed by the little "A" button shown next (found in the lower right corner of the Video tab of the Viewer).

Clicking into the button, there is an option for Favorites, where we'll now find quick access to our saved generators.
